Pat Gaines worked 22 years in the Lincoln County courthouse in Oklahoma until her retirement in 2003. She and her husband Jerry had two children and three grandchildren.

She loved to paint, do various arts and crafts, read, teach the Bible, and watch movies. She wrote articles for local newspapers and offered a free online Bible study. Her interest in early American history inspired her to bring Amos Hannah's real-life journal to the world.

Publications include the non-fiction biography THE JOURNAL OF AMOS HANNAH and the children's picture book O. O. OCTOPUS.
